First Visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child visit us within 6 months of the eruption of the first baby tooth or no later than 12 months of age. You can make the first visit enjoyable and positive. The first visit is usually an exam, tooth brushing, topical fluoride and oral hygiene instructions.
It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as "needle", "shot", "pull", "drill" or "hurt". The office makes a practice of using words that convey the same message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child.
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. If your child requires restorative care, we will develop a treatment plan and go over it with you in great detail. During operative procedures we request parents wait in the waiting room. Our experienced staff will be at your child's side to comfort them, hold hands if necessary and guide them through a comfortable dental experience.
We want each and every visit to be a pleasant one!
